Everyone wants to catch a bass right? Whether you fish with bait, plugs, soft lures or even flies, everyone remembers getting their first bass. Where better to catch one of these than on the beautiful Waterford Coast (a hard thing for a Cork man to say!). My PB came from Dungarvan Bay, a tiddler of 12 lbs 6 oz, one of 3 specimens I have had from the bay!!!!!
Dungarvan Bay is renowned throughout Ireland as one of the best places in Europe to hook into a bass. The natural harbour offered by the shape of the bay, provides excellent shelter from the elements in all but an Easterly wind, even at that if you want to fish the sheltered inner harbour for mullet, flounder and sea trout, this place offers you those options.
If you get sick of catching bass (bet you never thought you would anyone say that) there are some great reefs, litterally teeming with life outside the bay, including some fanstastic ballans up to and over 5lbs
So come along and join us. It doesn’t matter if your a member with 1000 posts or 1 post, all are welcome. Even if you haven’t got yourself a yak yet, come along and join the inaugural Kayak Angling Ireland Dungarvan Meet and have a look and see what kayak angling is all about.
Here are some reports from the area to get you psyched up for the weekend
Heres a few pictures I have from around there
