Ray O’Toole’s Prowler 13
After some research I decided on The Ocean Prowler 13. The main reasons for my decision was that I wanted stability and some speed but I had to be able to lift the yak onto the roof of my jeep on my own. The P13 ticked all the boxes for me:

Rod holders were the first accessories I bought for my yak. There were really only two options – either Ram or Scotty. I decided on the Scotty ones as I liked the tripple rod holder and I could add the fishfinder to the rod holder. Again after some research I went for the Humminbird Matrix 12 fishfinder as it wasn’t that expensive at €160 yet it gives me the information that I require. A GPS can be added at a later stage to this unit:

The battery system for the fishfinder is a 12 volt 7amp battery. This battery will easily last you 2 days fishing before a charge.

I wired up a 3 amp fuse to the battery in order to protect the fishfinder so if there is a power surge it will blow the fuse and not my fishfinder:

The power connection clips I got from a local golf power caddy dealer. It means that I can use the same charger for both the fishfinder and my golf cart:

I store the battery under the hatch area of the yak:

The anchor pulley system I copied from a UK fishing kayak site. It wasn’t that hard to do but very essential in the safety aspect of kayaking. I also purchased a drogue and a fish keeper bag:

The sail system was a bit of a luxury item as it was a little expensive. It’s a Pacific Action Sail which I got shipped from the UK. It’s great fun to and not difficult to use. Setting it up on the yak only takes a minute or two:

My crate is a plastic box I bought a few years ago in Woodies. It fits my waterproof tackle box perfectly and leaves room for some other bits and pieces includind a small spare telescopic paddle:

Last but not least is a paddle clip. You’ve heard of “Up shits creek without a paddle” well I don’t ever want to find myself in that situation so I make sure that my paddle stays with the yak at all times. I even bring a spare one just in case:

There you have it. Now you’ve seen my pimped yak. Why not add your yak next.
Regards,
Ray.
